The Flight Attendant

The Story Arc

Cassie Bowden is a reckless flight attendant who drinks heavily and hooks up with passengers. After spending a romantic night with a handsome passenger, Alex Sokolov, in Bangkok, she wakes up to find him dead in her bed. Terrified of being arrested, she cleans up the crime scene, sparking a globe-trotting espionage mystery that forces her to confront her own childhood trauma and sobriety.

Cassie Bowden is highly charming, energetic, but deeply troubled. She suffers from severe alcoholism and uses alcohol to escape the painful memories of her abusive childhood and her father's death. Throughout the series, she hallucinates conversations with the deceased Alex Sokolov (and later, multiple versions of herself) as a coping mechanism while solving international conspiracies.

Kaley Cuoco read the novel by Chris Bohjalian in 2017 and immediately purchased the television rights before it was even published. She pitched it to Warner Bros. and launched her production company Yes, Norman Productions. The series features stylized split screens and quick-cut editing to mirror Cassie's fractured mind.

The Flight Attendant was a critical success, praised for its frantic pacing, stylish direction, and Kaley Cuoco's brilliant portrayal of a woman on the edge. It holds high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.
